Operations Management Trainee To Supervisor

Vulcan’s Reece Evans, who works at the Medina facility outside of San Antonio, knows he still has a lot to learn.

But after just three years on the job, Evans quickly worked his way up from Operations Management Trainee to Supervisor at Vulcan’s Medina Plant.

After graduating from college, Evans signed up as a trainee in Vulcan’s Operations Management Development program, where he was exposed to all aspects of company operations.

During his first month, Evans drove a haul truck. He soon graduated to operating loaders and excavators and has even performed quality control work in the lab.

“Understand the whole process and how the plant operates,” said Evans. “Lots of little tricks to running it well.”

Evans credits his upbringing on his family’s farm in Missouri for preparing him for a career at Vulcan. “It shows you how to work,” Evans said. “Only difference is here every day is harvest where we’re always harvesting rock.”

Now a supervisor for Medina’s tertiary and water plant, Evans looks forward to continuing his professional growth but will always remember Vulcan’s guiding principles he learned as a trainee.

“Doing the right thing, the right way, at the right time,” Evans said.
